The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited
Energy Consumption Calculator

The Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd. has developed an online calculator to help you determine your approximate energy consumption and the amount of your electricity bill based on the appliances you have in your home. Just fill in information about your appliances and we'll calculate the approximate monthly cost for you. If you already know your energy usage in kilowatt hours (kWh) or would like to know what your bill would be for a specific energy usage, you can click here for a link to the Auxiliary Calculator.

Read instructions carefully before using the Calculator

  1. Select the appropriate tariff (Domestic Service (default) for residential or General Service for other).
  2. When bills are calculated with this Calculator they include a fixed charge that applies to the specific tariff. If, however, you would like to use the calculator for comparing usages for different appliances you should select Exclude Fixed Charge.
  3. The Fuel Clause Adjustment will default to the value for the current month. However, if you prefer, you can enter a different value.
  4. In the Appliance column, click in the box on the left hand side of the name of each appliance which you wish to include in the energy consumption calculation. This will place a tick in the box. Repeat this process for each appliance you wish to include. To remove an appliance from the calculation, click again inside the box to remove the tick.
  5. In the Quantity column, choose the number of appliances you have in your household.
  6. In the Typical Wattage column, the typical appliance wattage has been preset. You can change these settings to be more accurate if you have the available information.
  7. In the Hours (per day) column, select the average number of hours the appliance is used daily.
  8. In the Days (per month) column, select the typical number of days the appliance is used monthly.
  9. After completing your selections, the kWh (per month) will be calculated automatically. The section highlighted in grey (Total Estimated Usage (kWh), Total Estimated Cost etc.) will be calculated when you press the Calculate button.

Note: This calculator is meant as an estimation tool.
Estimations are not necessarily actual monthly energy costs.
