Ms. Kathy-Ann Christian

The Barbados Light & Power Company welcomes  Ms. Kathy-Ann Christian, who  was selected to fill the position of Corporate Secretary & Legal Counsel of Light & Power Holdings and its subsidiaries with effect from September 1, 2012. This is a senior management position reporting to the Managing Director of LPH.


Ms. Christian is an Attorney-at-law and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (United Kingdom) with fifteen years’ experience.   She completed her Legal Education Certificate at the Hugh Wooding Law School and also holds a Diploma in International Compliance with Merit from the University of Manchester, Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. 


Ms. Christian’s experience covers major business sectors in Barbados and the region, having worked with a regional conglomerate as well as in the financial and reinsurance industries.


In her role as Corporate Secretary & Legal Counsel, Ms. Christian will be responsible for providing guidance and direction to the Board of Directors in order to ensure good corporate governance and compliance with all statutory and other obligations as required by law; arranging and preparing for Board and committee meetings; and ensuring that corporate records and reports are maintained in accordance with law and the requirements of the relevant securities exchanges.  Ms. Christian will also be guiding the Company with regard to any contracts and other legal documents and will liaise with the Company’s external legal counsel as necessary on these matters.


The Company  takes this opportunity to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Hartley Richards for his sterling contribution as Corporate Secretary over the past years.  Dr. Richards has continued to hold the position on a contractual basis since his retirement in 2007 and will remain available to assist Ms. Christian as she transitions into her new role.
