Light & Power Supports Youth Football with Donation to Six Clubs

The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited (Light & Power), driven by its deep connection to the
communities it serves and a shared belief in the potential of young people, has donated to six local
clubs to support their youth football programmes. The clubs were identified through employee
nominations, reflecting teams that are close to their hearts and making a meaningful impact in their
communities. The donations were presented during a brief ceremony on Thursday, June 11, at the
Company’s corporate offices at Garrison Hill, St Michael.

Representatives and players from Pinelands, Pride of Gall Hill, Valerie FYC, FM Four Pillars Soccer
Academy, Deacons and Ellerton were invited to attend the ceremony and accept the donation on behalf
of their clubs. Coaches present expressed their gratitude, noting that the funds will go a long way in
strengthening their programmes, including providing much-needed equipment and enhancing
opportunities for the young players in their care.

“The initiative reflects our continued interest in supporting positive opportunities for young people and
strengthening community partnerships through investment in sport,” Light & Power Communications
Advisor, Adriel “Woody” Richard said.

“Football has a huge following in the island and plays an important role in developing discipline,
teamwork and confidence among our youth, and we have made the donation to assist the clubs in
advancing the programmes for their young players.”

The contribution formed part of an internal initiative to mark the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which
is being hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, the first time the tournament has been staged
across three countries. The opening match of the competition took place on the same day.

According to Distribution Supervisor, Rommel Cumberbatch, “By linking the occasion to a meaningful
community contribution, Light & Power is using the excitement surrounding the World Cup to encourage
support for youth development through sport.”

Through this initiative, Light & Power hopes this will help to create more opportunities for young
footballers to learn, grow and thrive both on and off the field. The Company is encouraging other
businesses to step forward and invest in the communities they serve, noting that even small acts of
support can have a lasting impact on young people and help shape stronger, more connected
communities.
