Light & Power Recognises Employee Excellence At 42nd Luminosity Awards
Employees honoured for driving customer service, innovation, safety and operational excellence

Employees whose dedication to customer service, safety, innovation and teamwork help keep Barbados powered were celebrated at the 42nd annual Luminosity Awards of the Barbados Light & Power Company Limited.
Held under the theme “Blueprints of Excellence”, the ceremony recognised individuals and teams whose contributions over the past year have strengthened the ability of the Company to deliver safe, reliable and customer-focused service while advancing its transformation journey.
The awards formed part of 115th anniversary celebrations of the Utility and highlighted the critical role its employees play in powering homes, businesses and communities in Barbados.
Managing Director Roger Blackman said the awards celebrated the people whose commitment and expertise help power the island every day.

“At Light & Power, our success begins and ends with our people,” he said. “Every customer served, every innovation introduced, every safety milestone achieved and every challenge overcome reflects the dedication of employees working across our business to keep Barbados connected and powered.
“Excellence at Light & Power is not accidental. It is reflected in our commitment to customers, our focus on safety, our pursuit of innovation and our ability to work together. Today’s recognition celebrates those who consistently embody these values and inspire others to do the same.”
Regional communications strategist Aprille Thomas encouraged employees to reflect on the impact of their work on the lives of Barbadians during the keynote address.
“When everything is working perfectly, nobody notices,” she said. “But the minute something goes wrong, everybody remembers your name, where you work and where you live. Your success may be silent, but your impact is not.”
The awards recognised outstanding contributions in customer service excellence, innovation, leadership, health and wellness, team spirit and safety – areas that are critical to delivering value to customers and supporting the long-term success of the Company.
Among the top honourees were Barrington Clarke (Innovation), Charles Blenman (Outstanding Safety), Tamara Browne and Richelle Bowen (Customer Service Excellence), Dian Brathwaite (Health & Wellness), Operations Generation team of Liu Ross, Rodney Fagan, Damon Straughan, Shamar Atkinson, Kerwyn Price and Shaquan Jones (Team Spirit), and Cassandra Crawford (Leadership), all of whom captured gold awards in their respective categories.
The ceremony also highlighted excellence across the organisation through the Division Star awards, which recognise employees whose performance, commitment and leadership have made a significant impact within their respective business units. The awardees were Nadia Alleyne, Cassandra Crawford, MajellaEno, Tracey Greene, Sebastien Haynes, Anderson Henry, Ken Howard, Moishe Steinbok, and Sandee Simmons. Together, they represent the breadth of talent, expertise and dedication that drive the ability of Light & Power to serve customers and support the development of the island.
